Upon completion of modules 1 and 2, you'll be able to confidently:
- Assess, diagnose, and implement a treatment plan to meet patient dental implant needs.
- Understand the prerequisites to achieve and maintain osseointegration.
- Interpret and plan dental implant cases using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.
- Use computer-assisted technology for planning dental implant treatment and guided surgery.
- Know the generic components and features of multiple dental implant systems.
- Recognise and manage dental implant complications.
- Obtain informed consent for dental implant treatment.
- Assemble a logbook of completed cases as evidence of clinical training, as required by the General Dental Council.
This module covers the prerequisites for osseointegration and patient assessment for implants. It is ideal for beginners and those experienced in implant practice who want to consolidate their knowledge and understanding. Online interactive seminars are scheduled regularly, once a week, lasting 1 or 2 hours.
A certificate in the Principles and Application of Implantology will be awarded upon completion of this course.
Course Topics.
- Understand the requirements which must be met to achieve and maintain osseointegration from a histological and patient perspective
- The surgical and restorative steps will be explained in detail and the importance of adherence to strict prosthetic principles and occlusion will be emphasized.
- Differentiate between delayed and immediate placement protocols and immediate loading.
- Indications for the various placement types are discussed, and their advantages and disadvantages are clearly explained.
- The various surgical and prosthetic protocols used to place and restore implants.
- Differentiate between transfer digital and analogue impression methods, together with their limitations,
- Conventional as well as the latest digital techniques employed in the restoration of dental implants will be covered in terms of cost, accuracy, and clinical outcomes.

Dr Petousis earned his degree in dentistry in 2000. He has been awarded an MSc in Implant Dentistry, and a Diploma in Aligners by The City of London Dental School, and the University of Bolton. He has been the clinical director for the City of London Dental School since 2021. From May 2024, Honorary Assistant Professor Dr Petousis has attended many post-graduate courses and is continually developing his skills. He is currently learning the latest implant techniques and perfecting his current methods of treatment in contemporary dentistry through education. He has worked in many dental clinics in various settings across Athens, London, and Dubai, treating patients with diverse dental needs. He has a distinct interest in smile design, teeth whitening, crowns and bridges, veneers, and cosmetic resin bonding, especially dental implants. He interested in clinical negligence, ethics, and consent, ensuring patients at the practice get the best healthcare service available. Dr. Petousis is passionate about dental implants and always wants to share his knowledge and experience with his colleagues.
Completed his training in Dental Technology in South Africa in 1984, since then has also set up numerous successful dental laboratory businesses in both South Africa and the United Kingdom. By 2005 having built up a very successful dental implant company he made the decision to sell the company back to the parent company in order to focus on his UK based dental laboratory.
